The principal band is the band the rate book applies to more survey numbers than any other in that village. It is not an average and it is not a market rate. Where a village has a highway band, that band is usually dearer and it is listed on the village record.

03Reading the ranking
The spread is a spread in the 2011 rate book, not a spread in what land sells for today. Kadipur carries the highest principal band at Rs. 9,26,740 per acre and Bavaliyari the lowest at Rs. 1,49,740 per acre, and the statutory charge tracks that base at a flat 5.9 per cent. Nothing on this site says which village is worth buying into.
Three villages fall out of the computation entirely. Hebatpur and Sangasar sat in Barwala taluka in 2009 and the agricultural rate book was read for Dhandhuka taluka, so they carry non-agricultural bands only. Sodhi has no page anywhere in either volume.
